SUP As Art: Beau Lake, the World’s Most Beautiful Paddleboards

Beau Lake is a boutique, design-led outdoor company focused on crafting beautiful works of art for on-water recreation. The luxury lifestyle brand is launching into the paddleboard market with a wide range of boards guaranteed to turn heads — and we predict even the heads of non-paddlers will be doing a double take.

From lightweight inflatables inspired by their sailing counterparts, to rigid boards built by hand with a custom layups of pristine woods from maple, holly, and rosewood, we just hope they aren’t so pretty that you don’t want to get them dirty.

The brand says that Beau Lake was created from a deep connection with the water, and when the founders, particularly Paul Lavoie, noticed that many existing water toys, such as pedal boats, were visually unappealing and looked cheaply made. They determined to create products that were both functional and beautiful, wanting to move away from purely “sporty” designs and introduce a more vintage, classic, and luxurious aesthetic.

They then decided to tackle the enhancement of what they call the “waterside experience.” Beau Lake’s mission is to elevate the overall experience of being by the water. They focus on crafting high-quality, human-powered nautical products that blend design, materials, and craftsmanship was their north star. Now, they have come to market with what they hope will be viewed as a timeless brand with heritage DNA, with full knowledge that this is very much a luxury brand, whether that is watercraft luxury or outdoor luxury. Customers already include luxury hotels across the world that want to offer amenities that are on brand with the luxury experience; lakeside cabin owners and yacht owners; as well as general aficionados of watersports. Other customers include labels such as Saint Laurent, Ulysee Nardin, and Hinckley Yachts, whom have called upon Beau Lake to bring unique offerings to market.

One of the new boards, the Rapid ($5,100), designed and built in Canada, is Beau Lake’s only touring-style paddleboard. Crafted entirely from lightweight, ultra-durable carbon fiber, it features a sleek, narrow body and a striking Macassar wood veneer that spans the upper deck. Designed in collaboration with Canadian athlete Julien Fillion, this racing-style board is both timeless in design and built for speed. Finished with an ultra-glossy protective coating, it shines beautifully while safeguarding the sustainably sourced wood.

Also new, the Newport, is an 11-foot iSUP inspired by nautical traditions, and defies the traditional look of inflatable boards. Visit their website to learn more about the full lineup of these unique design-inspired paddleboards, whether you need something for your yacht, or for the wall in your man cave.
