The Teva Mountain Games in Vail Colorado have started off much like last weekend at the Paddling Life Pro Invitational in Steamboat Springs, where Sutton also won the creek event. He used the same form to storm to the podium at the Bud Light Lime Steep Creep Championship presented by Thule on 100 cfs at Homestake Creek on Thursday, June 3rd.

Further supporting the same lattitude, Tanya Faux of Australia, even after coming off the flu, took 1st in the women’s race.

The Teva Mountain Games continue all weekend. Read on for more information and a preview of Friday’s events.

The Teva Mountain Games are the nation’s largest celebration of mountain sport, lifestyle and music featuring top professional and amateur athletes from around the world. The adventure sporting event hosts more than 2,000 outdoor athletes, along with an estimated 40,000 spectators. Athletes converge on Vail’s mountains and rivers to compete in eight sports and 24 disciplines for over $100,000 in prize money. Events include kayaking, rafting, mountain biking, road cycling, World Cup Bouldering, amateur climbing, fly-fishing, road and trail running, as well as stand up paddling. Additional events at the Teva Mountain Games include: a film series, Outdoor Reels; a photography competition, Mountain Click; an interactive expo area, Gear Town; DockDog canine competitions; free concerts at Mountains of Music and the Teva Mountain Ball. The Teva Mountain Games are a project of the Vail Valley Foundation.

FRIDAY, JUNE 4th, 2010
IFSC Bouldering World Cup presented by Pyramide (Qualifiers)
9:00AM (Women), 2:00PM (Men) – The women and men’s IFSC Bouldering World Cup qualifiers presented by Pyramide kick off tomorrow at 9am and 2pm respectively. Climbers attempt to solve various bouldering problems on TMG’s massive climbing wall in the only World Cup bouldering event on U.S. soil!

Bud Light Lime Kayak Freestyle presented by First Ascent (Qualifiers)
1:00PM – Kayakers are set to do battle tomorrow at 1pm at the Bud Light Lime Kayak Freestyle qualifiers presented by First Ascent. Come see the world’s best playboaters in an old-fashioned throwdown “in the hole” at Vail’s Whitewater Park.

EUKENUBA DOCKDOGS COMPETITIONS – Come see premier athletic canines run, jump, and fetch in the Speed Retrieve and Big Air WAVE competitions at the Golden Peak throughout the day (see below for all DockDogs scheduling information).
