More and more culprits seem to be using kayaks as part of their capers. After a kayaker who faked his own death returned home from Eastern Europe, a Texas woman has been charged with murder after police say she fatally shot her husband, lit his truck on fire and then fled the scene in a kayak.
According to People magazine citing reports from KENS, KSAT and Crossroads Today and an arrest affidavit, Bexar County, Texas officials found the body of Tomas Calavera Jr. in a closet during a welfare check. Earlier that day, deputies in Calhoun County responded to a report of a burning vehicle, the story reports, with a witness reportedly seeing a woman later identified as Faith Paige Goynes walking away. The clincher with regard to kayaks being involved: deputies also reportedly later found Goynes paddling a kayak near the burning truck, while in possession of Calavera’s ID. Goynes is charged with murder and arson causing serious bodily injury or death in the death of her husband.
