Teen Kayaker from Kentucky Still Missing

Prospect, Kentucky, teenager Jacob Stover, 16, went out kayaking in his fish kayak on the Ohio River on Jan. 10 and never returned.

According to WHAS Louisville, which originally reported the story, search crews have been hard at work in the three weeks since, using everything form drones to the final ping form his cell phone to find him. Rescuers found the kayak, but not Jacob.

 Since Stover’s disappearance, friends, family and a group of volunteers have been assisting Kentucky and Indiana law enforcement in the search,focusing efforts on the Falls of the Ohio area, where Stover’s cell phone last pinged, and Cox Park, where he took his kayak out on the water.

The family and the search team are asking for more volunteers to help distribute flyers.

“We really appreciate just the desire to want to help,” Jacob’s mother Melissa told WHAS. “Folks who don’t know us but just saw the story and are thinking about Jake and reaching out it’s really heartwarming it means a lot.”

“They’re the ones that give us the strength to continue to come out, the desire to bring our son back home,” Shawn added.
