Any boater worth the salt on his crusted-over polypro innerlayers has tuned into the HammerFactor, a paddling-centric podcast run by industry veterans John Grace, Louis Geltman and John Weld out of their studio in Skyland, N.C.
Designed to help athletes and professionals “share their genius with the world,” the podcast uses interviews, inspiring content and unique events to motivate their audience to get rad themselves while shedding light on some of the characters behind one of the best outdoor sports in the world.
Its Whitewater Podcast helps listeners learn from professionals and industry influencers, covering conservation issues, viewer mail, celebrity guests, rants and raves and more, serving up banter from the sports core and an insider’s looks into athletes, expeditions, controversies gear and more. Its Hot Seat program, their latest addition, is a Q&A-style interview with a little free-flowing banter sprinkled on top with the goal to discover the secret sauce of successful athletes and help them share their stories.
Not that he feels he even belongs in this esteemed group—whose recent programming includes interviews with the likes of Benny Marr, Evan Garcia, Ben Stookesberry, Antoinette Lee Toscano and more—but Episode 81 showcases none other than Paddling Life founder and former Paddler magazine publisher Eugene Buchanan, espousing on everything from the state of today’s paddlesports media to his world travels and even running rivers in Siberia on rafts made from old germ warfare suits, as narrated in his book, Brothers on the Bashkaus .
