Team Dagger and First Descents Team Up For a Good Cause.

Dagger Kayaks is a company that wants to “represent everything that’s great about getting on the water”, while First Descents is a non-profit who is “committed to curing young adults of the emotional effects of cancer and empowering them […]by experiencing outdoor adventure therapy and outdoor adventure sports”. Now the two groups have teamed up to raise money for the cause and provide likeminded paddlers with free schwag in the process…

They’ve come up with a fund-raising contest. It’s simple and straightforward: Whoever raises the most money for First Descents during the month of November 2010 wins a free kayak from Dagger. The winner gets to choose any boat from their line-up and Dagger will ship it to them free of charge.

From the First Descents Website: In 2001, ten young adults took to the rivers of Colorado in whitewater kayaks. For seven days, they learned the basics of the sport, eventually conquering Class III rapids before the week’s end. They were there to prove themselves and to prove a point: that cancer, no matter how aggressive, dormant, advanced, or invasive, would never be stronger than they were.
