The day after Thanksgiving traditionally marks the start of the Holiday shopping season. Isn’t it great that we live in a country where shopping has it’s own season? Well, if all the commercialism gets to wearing thin, how about doing a little holiday shopping for a good cause? The North Forest Canoe Trail is currently holding its’ 6th annual Online Benefit Auction.
Hundreds of essentials for paddlers, hikers and other outdoor lovers await your bids. The auction began on Nov. 3 and continues through Dec. 3. This benefit auction is a convenient way for the public to purchase top-quality items as holiday gifts or in preparation for next season’s paddling and outdoor adventures, with all proceeds going to support the conservation, youth outdoors, and economic development programs that take place along the 740-mile recreational water trail in New York, Vermont, Québec, New Hampshire and Maine. Last year’s auction raised more than $29,000 for the trail. This year’s goal is to raise $35,000.
“We have an incredible group of donors for this year’s event,” said NFCT Executive Director Kate Williams. “The auction connects these donors with outdoors people who enjoy using their great products, and the auction proceeds make a real difference in our ability to deliver excellent programs along our route.” The almost 500 items in this year’s auction are featured in a range of categories: Boats, Paddles, Outdoor and Paddle Gear and Clothing, Footwear, Regional Experiences, Books, and Electronics.
