Okay, boating photogs…got a great paddling shot you think can win a contest against some of the world’s best? Here’s your chance: Red Bull just extended its deadline for its Illume 2013 Image Quest Photo Contest until the end of April…
Billing it as the world’s greatest action and adventure sport photography contest, photographers have until the end of April 2013 to submit their shots for a chance to earn a spot amongst the top 50.
The overall winner will receive the new Leica S camera, while category winners will each receive a Leica X2. Other prizes will include broncolor’s new Move flash, and the latest strap system from Sun-Sniper.
Winners will be unveiled in a grand ceremony in Hong Kong at the end of August, complete with an exhibition of the contest’s best shots. The top 50 images will then travel around the world as a roving night-time photo exhibition.
“Red Bull Illume is a fantastic project and gives photographers the chance to show their talent to the entire world,” says photo judge Angélique De Weerd, adding that to date, thousands of images have been submitted from all over the world.
To ensure great images aren’t left sitting idle in laptops, organizers have extended the deadline to encourage photographers to sift through their photo albums for overlooked images.”Plus, there are six weeks till submissions close so there is still plenty of time to head out over the weekend and capture that winning shot,” says De Weerd.
The contest consists of 10 categories: lifestyle, playground, energy, spirit, close up, wings, sequence, new creativity, experimental and illumination. A team of judges — photo editors from prominent international publications — will select 50 finalist images, including 10 category winners and the overall winner.
