Turn on the Tunnel! 2011 Bailey Fest Goes Off!

- Advertisment -

Bailey fest goes off! Icing on the cake for an already stellar Colorado whitewater season this August 13th and 14th over 200 people showed up to paddle and party at the 2nd Annual Bailey Fest in Bailey, Colorado.

Thanks to Ian Foley and American Whitewater for their work securing a perfect medium flow of 420 cfs from Denver Water. Bailey Fest is coordinated with a release from Denver Water’s Dillon Reservoir that delivered awesome flows through Roberts Tunnel during the event weekend. Without the cooperation of Denver water this event would not happen!

The event organizers really stepped it up this year with a Saturday post paddle party at the take out featuring free beer from Oskar Blues Brewery. This was followed by a post post paddle party at the boaters only camping right on the river. Jackson Kayak donated a Villain creek boat for the winner of the 1st Annual 2011 Bailey Fest Foamie-Cross. Thirty competitors battled it out and in the end pure determination and honed foamie cross skills took the prize. Kevin Hiner from Durango walked with a brand new Jackson Villain courtesy of Jackson Kayaks! According to event organizers next years coarse is going to be even bigger and better! A huge thanks goes out to the event sponsors who made it happen Jackson Kayak, Confluence Kayaks, Whitewater Tube Co., and Oskar Blues Brewery.
