Sue Rechner, Confluence Light Up AOL’s This Built America

Built and boated in the USA. That could sum up why Confluence Outdoor, headed by Sue Rechner and owner of such brands as Dagger, Perception, Wave Sport, Mad River, Bomber Gear, Harmony and Wilderness Systems, highlights this month’s This Built America show by AOL…

The show honors American-built products and their contributions to local economies. And that’s exactly why Confluence Outdoor and its American-made canoes and kayaks are representing the state of South Carolina on AOL’s This Built America editorial series.

Rechner took over the reins of Confluence in 2007, quickly turning the company around into the market leader it is today.

With Rechner in charge, manufacturing processes got streamlined, dealer relationships re-established and products fine-tuned across all its leading brands. “Sue has the skill-set to run a billion-dollar business,” says J.H. Whitney managing director Paul Vigano, whose private equity firm recently acquired Confluence. “She’s really passionate about the outdoors. The industry really needs people like her.”

Confluence joins a national movement in This Built America that is devoted to supporting American companies and American-made products. AOL supports the effort along with sponsor Ford Trucks. Through the year, the editorial and video teams will explore 50 states in 50 weeks to bring 50 stories of the people who are bringing back manufacturing to America.
