Boat, paddle and paddlesports apparel companies aren’t the only ones using the imagery and solace of rivers to promote their products. Sock manufacturer Smartwool has also hopped on the water wagon, using Utah’s Ruby-Horsethief Canyons as the setting for its second original short film, Life on the River…
The film takes Smartwool’s ski and snowboard athletes — including Angel Collinson, Griffin Post and Bryan Fox — out of their element, putting them on a river instead on a mountain arete. “Somewhere between put-in and take-out, life slows way down,” says Smartwool spokesperson Elizabeth Carey. “For these athletes, floating the Ruby Horsethief section of the Colorado River is a challenge.”
The goal, she adds, is to inspire people to get outdoors and go farther.
Consumers will see more and more original content like this from Smartwool and ROAMTV throughout 2016 as well, as the brand looks to tell the stories of some of the most interesting athletes and members of its Fan Field Testing program.
