More Consolidations: Kayak Distribution Takes Over Cobra Kayak

Like rivers joining forces, two more kayak manufacturers have aligned to better compete in today’s economy. St-Hubert, Quebec’s Kayak Distribution announced it has reached a licensing agreement with Cobra Kayak that will see Kayak Distribution take over the manufacturing and sales of all Cobra Kayaks products globally.

“We are exited about the addition of this established range of SOT kayaks with a great reputation for boats that paddle extremely well,” says Kayak Distribution president Marc Pelland. “This deal fits perfectly in our strategy of partnership and acquisitions to create a top of line offering for both dealers and end consumers.”

The agreement will help Kayak Distribution complement its sit-on-top offering with over 15 Cobra models along with gaining an additional brand that has been on the market for over 25 years. “We had been looking to bolster our SOT range for a while as it help our customers concentrate their purchases and gain both purchasing and logistic efficiencies,” adds Pelland.

From Cobra’s standpoint, it will allow it to be globally competitive both from a manufacturing and sales standpoint. “For a while, we have been struggling with increase competition in our markets which made it difficult for us to bring Cobra where we know it can be,” says Wayne Jackson, director of Aquatx, the parent company of Cobra. “This partnership will ensure that Cobra is widely distributed and remains a competitive player in the market.”
