Whitewater Riders, a new teen focused kayak camp offered at Madawaska Kanu Centre in Ontario, Canada, is spearheaded by Katrina Van Wijk.
Katrina, a three time Canadian whitewater slalom kayak medalist herself, created the two week kayaking camp aimed specifically at 13 – 17 year old teens who are enthusiastic kayakers already.
The inaugural session took place on July 29, 2013 with eight teens along for the ride. World class coaches lead sessions on feestyle, slalom, creeking, whitewater rescue training and canoe trips. Beginning on the Madawaska River at the Madawaska Kanu Centre, the journey continued through the Petawawa River, Ottawa River and Gull River.
