Want to get together with fellow paddlers in Colorado? Head to Down River Equipment’s second annual Customer Appreciation weekend and 30th Anniversary event May 15-17 on the Arkansas River.

Located at the Echo Canyon River Expeditions campground near the Royal Gorge in Canon City, the event promises thrills, spills and a whole lot of river camaraderie. The cost for the entire weekend is just $8/person, which includes two nights of camping and two days of shuttles.

The event includes free shuttles, discounted camping, après paddling events and a chance to meet the legendary founders of DRE: Dennis Schell and Greg Yeager. Echo Canyon is partnering with DRE to provide a venue with campground, indoor restaurant and bar as well as scheduled shuttles to some of your favorite runs.

Tent or car camping is available for the entire weekend at Echo Canyon Campground (800-755-3246), with RVs welcome (that means you, Jacksons). Camping is limited to first come first served. IF the weather turns sour, the 8 Mile Bar and Grill at Echo Canyon River Expeditions across the highway from the campground will be open serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Down River will buy each participant a drink each day as a thank you for supporting the company. Registration, event info and après river festivities will be at 8 Mile Bar and Grill throughout the weekend.

As for the important part, the shuttles, DRE will be providing shuttles for the following runs through Echo on Saturday and Sunday. The shuttle will only be moving drivers from take-outs to the put-ins (no gear or passengers).

1) 11:00 am departure from Pink House (Royal Gorge take out) to arrive at Parkdale (Royal Gorge ½ day put in) at approx. 11:20 am.
2) 11:40 am departure from Parkdale (Parkdale section take out) to arrive at Pinnacle Rock (Park Dale ½ day or Royal Gorge full day put in) around noon.
And lest you’re trying to stop in the store over the weekend, they’ll be back to theirr normal hours Monday morning.
