Want to talk shop and learn from the whitewater industry’s top paddlers, retailers and instructors? The dates and location have been set for the 2013 National Whitewater Symposium, where you can hob-knob, brush elbows, paddle and drink beers with the best of them…

The Whitewater Symposium will be held in Bend, Oregon at the Mt. Bachelor Village Resort and Tumalo Creek Outfitters, September 27-29, 2013.

“Bend is a great location for the symposium,” says event founder and board member Kent Ford. “There’s a tremendous variety of rivers within town and a healthy boating community there, along with the Deshutes Paddle Trail which stretches 120 miles along the region.”

Joining in this year in a sponsorship capacity is the American Canoe Association, which will also be present at the event as sponsor and presenter. It will also help facilitate registration and conduct certification courses at the event.

As for presenters, the event will again draw from the country’s best, featuring instruction clinics, sales seminars and more.

“Some of the presenters have tremendous technical backgrounds in the sport,” adds Ford. “This includes Quinn Daily, who has the rare combo of tremendous teaching and organizational skills, and Mo Bergman, who has a variety pack of paddling experiences to bring to her teaching.”

Online registration opens on Monday, August 12th.

About the WW Symposium: The Whitewater Symposium seeks to advance the spirit of whitewater paddling through bringing leaders of the sport together. Its focus is on generating new ideas to support the future of whitewater among those who are genuinely passionate about it. Collectively, paddlers have the greatest potential to influence the future of whitewater. The Whitewater Symposium program seeks to involve all those who actively love whitewater sport. This includes intermediate paddlers who want a deeper appreciation for paddlesport. The Symposium also supports the grassroots feeder programs that encourage new and continued participation, empowering more people to take on productive roles in stewarding whitewater paddling development.
