Canoe and Kayak magazine has set message boards across the paddling industry on fire with their first ever Reader’s Choice Awards. Publisher Jim Marsh says the idea came to him while working on the annual Buyer’s Guide. “Our readers are the world’s biggest group of paddling enthusiasts, and they are out there day-in, day-out, using every type of boat and gear imaginable,” says Marsh. “We thought, who better to choose the year’s best athletes, expeditions, and new gear?”

Although the results are in, C&K is waiting to reveal the full results of the online survey in their upcoming Buyer’s Guide. However just for our readers, PL has a sneak-peak at a few of the winners.

Canoe & Kayak Magazine counted over 3,600 votes in 13 categories from “favorite paddler” to “favorite kayak.” Read on for the results including one of the most hotly contested categories “Top Ten Paddling Retailers.”
