Virginia might be for lovers, but it’s also for lovers of adrenaline. Proof lies in this weekend’s hosting of the 2nd annual Dominion Riverrock outdoor adventure sports and river life fest in Richmond. Joining the likes of Tao Berman in the boatercross and aerial events are such athletes as pro freeride mountain bikers Jeff Lenosky and Aaron Chase and others of their Red Bull ilk.
Sponsored and produced by Venture Richmond and Sports Backers, run by none other than Jon Lugbill, one of the greatest whitewater canoe slalom racers of all time, sports featured this year include trail running, mountain biking, kayaking, freestyle biking and Ultimate Air Dogs.
This year’s music lineup includes national artists like Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, one of Rolling Stone’s best new acts of 2010, and Robert Randolph & the Family Band, a funk and soul group fronted by well-known pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph. Local groups include The Congress, Beast Wellington, Antero and Farm Vegas.
Dominion Riverrock will also feature an interactive village open throughout the festival. In this area, festival goers can participate in plenty of activities for all ages including raft rides on the James River, kayaking in the canal, and more.
