SOLE Releases First-Ever 100-Percent Recycled Wine Cork Sandal, Touts New Era in Footwear Innovation

Years ago, SOLE began a journey down a new sustainable path, committing themselves to providing quality orthopedic products without sacrificing the environment.

The vision—to pioneer a closed-loop manufacturing process by reusing natural wine corks, a sustainable and renewable resource that had been underutilized in the past.

In 2008, SOLE adopted ReCORK, North America’s largest cork recycling program today. With a network of thousands of partners and believers, the ReCORK program has planted more than 8,000 cork oak trees and collected over 75 million wine corks, reducing its carbon footprint beyond carbon neutral into carbon negative.

“By using recycled natural wine corks in our footwear, we are eliminating the usage of other harmful materials used otherwise in the production of footwear” said Mike Baker, CEO & Founder of SOLE/ReCORK.

SOLE established themselves as a leader in pain reduction and orthopedic health with the signature supportive shape in their footbed products. In this new footwear collection, SOLE is pioneering change once again by putting this same support in modern, low-profile sandals, some made with 100% recycled wine corks.

The signature supportive shape wear molds to one’s feet and are proven to improve balance, posture and stability while reducing strain and preventing injury. Unique features of the footwear include a metatarsal pad for an added level of forefoot support and increased toe circulation, a deep heel cup that prevents overpronation and a sturdy, yet supportive arch that prevents successive arch strain.

SOLE’s new footwear collection includes:

Beach Flips

SOLE launches brand-new Beach Flips, a collection of modern, affordable splash-friendly sandals that are made with 100% recycled wine corks. SOLE’s dynamic support reduces strain put on vulnerable parts of the foot.
