We all know people in the paddlesports industry who make their livelihoods on the river. The River Management Society is celebrating with a new series of “The River is My Office” videos…making us all jealous.
“We have nearly 30 so far, with half of them posted on the site,” says RMS executive director Risa Shimoda, adding they’ll be recording more at their annual meeting at the end of October in Vancouver, Wash.
The River Management Society is a national nonprofit whose mission is to support professionals who study, protect, and manage North America’s rivers. Born as a result of the 1996 merger of the American River Management Society and River Federation, it’s dedicated to holistic river management, with its membership base including federal, state, and local agency employees, educators, researchers, consultants, and organizations and private citizens.
Its objective is to advance the profession of river management by providing managers, researchers, educators and others with a forum for sharing information about the appropriate use and management of river resources. It build its organization with a broad base of expertise in all aspects of river management and stewardship including an ecosystem approach to recreation, water quality, riparian health, and watershed management.
