Kelty assists SylvanSport in creating ‘Mobile Adventure Gear’

SylvanSport tasks Kelty with designing tent technology to be featured
in the next generation of adventure camping trailers

BOULDER, COLO. – Kelty is proud to announce a recent partnership deal with mobile adventure gear manufacturer SylvanSport to head up the tent segment design and construction efforts for SylvanSport’s highly innovative, ultra-light camping trailer and gear hauler.

With modern technology and design innovation having bypassed the traditional “pop-up camper” segment, SylvanSport has stepped in to create what’s being called a “backpack on wheels.’ ”The SylvanSport ‘GO’ is a trailer that combines a fold out shelter with a lightweight and efficient method for hauling bikes, boats, and other outdoor gear.

The trailer’s shelter component is where Kelty’s tent expertise enters the picture.

“Kelty has been producing a diverse line of innovative tents for years and, when SylvanSport approached us about a partnership, we felt certain we could deliver a functional shelter component for their trailer,” said Christian Mason, Kelty’s marketing manager. “We’re excited for the launch this summer and look forward to working with SylvanSport in the future.”

This partnership was a natural fit, continuing to support Kelty’s “Basecamping Lifestyle” initiative and serving to further Kelty’s core mission of engaging people more fully with the outdoors.

With dozens of tent companies to choose from, SylvanSport company founder, Thomas Dempsey, had an easy time choosing Kelty.

“Kelty was far and away the number one choice for our tent,” said Dempsey. “They produce innovative, high-quality products and have great experience designing tents integrated into vehicles. They were a natural choice for this project.”

Fundamentally different than a traditional RV, the SylvanSport ‘GO’ is designed to serve the needs of everyone from the active, adrenaline-fueled outdoor enthusiast to those needing a lightweight trailer for family camping, as well as people who are hauling recreational toys, tools and gear.

The new trailer is scheduled to launch at the 2007 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market trade show in Salt Lake City this August 7-12 and will be on display outside the South entrance to the Salt Palace Convention Center during regular show hours.

KELTY is based in Boulder, Colorado, and uses the natural backdrop of the Rocky Mountains to test, create and continually innovate within their diverse outdoor product families of Light & Fast, Trail, Basecamp and Travel gear. Kelty combines the best in new technology with a healthy dose of common sense to create exceptionally made, affordably priced outdoor products.
