Canadian River Expeditions reconfirmed its commitment to giving back over the last year, making public its contributions to causes that align with its values of conservation, community, and access to Canada’s wild rivers. Through various initiatives, Canadian River Expeditions supports organizations dedicated to fostering connections with the land, providing paddling opportunities, and safeguarding the wilderness for future generations.
Canadian River Expeditions is a premier adventure outfitter specializing in guided rafting and paddling expeditions in some of the most pristine and remote wilderness areas of northern Canada and Alaska. With a legacy spanning over three decades, their expert guides and staff are committed to providing unforgettable experiences while prioritizing safety, environmental stewardship, and cultural appreciation.
Through 2024, Canadian River Expeditions contributed $31,000 to the Western Arctic Youth Collective (WAYC). This partnership empowers Indigenous youth by funding training opportunities that allow them to reconnect with their territory and the old paths of their ancestors. WAYC (pictured in lead image) works to equip young people with the skills and confidence to become future leaders in their communities, with a focus on environmental stewardship and cultural preservation.
Canadian River Expeditions also partnered with organizations that promote paddling and river safety across Canada. Two seats on a Nahanni River expedition were donated to the Paddler Co-Op in Ontario’s paddling heartland, the Ottawa Valley. This donation supports the co-op’s mission to improve access to rivers and offer paddling and river safety training to local communities. Additionally, seats were auctioned in support of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society’s mission to inspire Canadians to connect with their geography and history.
In further support of Indigenous youth, Canadian River Expeditions donated essential paddling gear, including drysuits and PFDs, to participants in Dinjii Zhuh Adventures‘ Indigenous Youth River Guide Training Program. This program plays a vital role in teaching river safety and outdoor skills while strengthening the connection between Indigenous youth and their cultural heritage.
Since 2016, Canadian River Expeditions has been a proud member business of 1% for the Planet, pledging one percent of annual sales to support environmental initiatives around the globe. This ongoing commitment reflects the company’s belief in the importance of preserving the natural world for future generations.
“Having grown up exploring Northern Canada with our family, access to wild rivers is something we know we can’t take for granted. Whether we are helping to conserve wild lands, supporting Indigenous youth in connecting to their territory, or helping local paddling communities access rivers, we take our responsibilities to lead within the guiding and outfitting industry seriously,” says Joel and Dana Hibbard, owners of Canadian River Expeditions.
By continuing to support these vital causes in 2024, Canadian River Expeditions underscores its dedication to conserving the wilderness and creating opportunities for future generations to experience the beauty of Canada’s rivers. We look forward to maintaining our dedication to environmental stewardship while ensuring river experiences remain accessible and inclusive for many years ahead.
