Want a little concerting with your supping or kayaking? Hit the largest floating paddleboard concert series in the country on Seattle’s Lake Union this summer.
Nicknamed the “Seattle Paddle Raves,” the casual floating gatherings on Lake Union are accompanied by house music as part of the Lake Union Concerts, which “exists to connect people to music, nature, and one another.”
What started as a casual grassroots hangout has quickly become an institution on Lake Union. As one of the largest floating concerts in the US, Seattle Paddle Rave brings together over 1,000 paddle boarders, kayakers and more each event to celebrate Seattle’s vibrant EDM scene. Known for its inclusive community, high-energy music, and Seattle’s iconic skylines and sunsets, the series is building on a rich legacy of music in the city, from Heart and Jimi Hendrix to Nirvana, the Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, and Alice in Chains. And at this music series, paddling is encouraged.
“We like to say, ‘If it floats, it’s invited,’” say organizers. “We believe that water is a great conductor of connection.”
So grab your PFD and paddleboard, kayak, boat, or anything else that floats and join the fun.
This year’s concerts will be held on June 6, 17, and 27; July 4, 15, and 17; Aug. 1 and 22; and Sept. 20.
