As a former U.S. Whitewater Team member, Bruce Lessels knows a thing or two about how to have fun on the river. With a mission to share his expertise with the world, Lessels started Zoar Outdoor, an adventure resort that specializes in facilitating fun on the river. Since 1989, Zoar has dominated the northeast scene, offering their customers more adventures than you could shake a paddle at. While Zoar Outdoor offers events year round, there are few coming up worthy of your attention.

West River Whitewater Trip
The following weekend (9/22 – 9/23) Zoar will be moving it north to Vermont for a whitewater raft trip down the West River. Located near the beautiful Stratton Mountain, the section provides a blend of both Class III and IV rapids. As stated by the trip description, “the first taste of big whitewater comes as you head into Landslide rapid. Several miles of continuous rapids later you’ll meet the biggest challenge at the Dumplings where negotiating the river’s natural s-turn pushes each raft’s paddling skills to the limit.” All this will be followed up by a BBQ dinner accompanied with a slideshow of shots from the day.

Dryway Whitewater Trip
Join Zoar (10/6 – 10/7) for the final weekend of the year to run the Drywall section of the Deerfield River. There’s no better way to capture the fleeting moments of the summer/fall season than some Class IV rapids weaving through the beautiful northern Berkshires. In classic fashion, Zoar will top off the whitewater trip with a BBQ lunch and some visual reminiscing on an epic trip.
